Books

I have made a career of creating books in many different genres.  In the course or three decades I have penned and/ or photographed eighteen titles and contributed to many many more.

Along the way there have been a myriad of other printed products: from calendars to cards, postcards and posters that have showcased my images and ideas.

My first and most challenging book was : Going to Extremes: Project Blizzard and Australia’s Antarctica Heritage.

This was a four year labor of love that combined my love of adventure, the Antarctic and crystalized a fascination for polar history.

The Himalayan Experience followed next.  This was a great opportunity to explore different parts of the greatest mountain chain on earth.

I was fortunate to collaborate with my brother, Quentin Chester on The Outdoor Companion: An Environmental Handbook for Surviving and Enjoying the Outdoors.

Antarctica: Beauty in the Extreme; A large format picture book came next.

The Loneliest Mountian: The Dramatic Story of the First Expedition to Climb Mt Minto, Antarctica, Text by Lincoln Hall Photographs by Jonathan Chester;

The Nature of Penguins

Splash: A Penguin Counting Book;

 Huskies: Polar Sledge Dogs;

The Young Adventurer’s Guide to Everest: From Avalanche to Zopkio;

More recently I have collaborated with a talented writer, Patrick Regan Together we have produced a series of five gift books for Andrews McMeel Publishing.
